TOURISM IN ITALY: HOTELS AND TECHNOLOGY

Technology4You is a company that focuses on technology solutions for high-profile hotel businesses. When we have to come up with a new product or service, we think about what our customers might need. To really understand it though, we need to know their industry, its changes, and what their end customer might be interested in: the traveler.

This discourse is very broad, and to be done in a comprehensive way it has to be divided into various segments. Today we decided to look at the discourse from the perspective of the type of hotel facilities in Italy and how the technology market is responding to their demands.

Let's start by saying. Italy has the largest number of hotels in Europe, with about 33 thousand hotels and 1 million rooms. Compared to the European average, however, they have a smaller structure, in fact we are talking about 33 rooms and per structure where only 4.8 of the hotels belong to a chain.

But what do these data mean?

If we look at the data regarding the size of hotels, we realize that a small establishment will never be able to make an adequate investment to modernize technologically, so most Italian establishments will not be able to offer quality services on the IT profile to their customers. We have to keep in mind, that when we talk about technological modernization, we are not only talking about Internet connection but especially about: IT security, customer loyalty through marketing tools connected to the network, services for high-spending business tourism.

And why should this be a problem?

The problem is the fact that technological progress also relies on state-provided infrastructure such as nationwide coverage for the use of fast connection. The fewer activities that need it the slower the process will be for everyone.
